I think part of it is many people, regardless of political party, don’t want to admit they’ve been subjected to Cold War/Red Scare propaganda about the differences between capitalism, socialism, and communism. I include myself in this because for many years I also believed the propaganda. It wasn’t until a little over tens years ago that I started looking into what those three words really meant.
