With protests against ICE and Trump going on, MLK is being thrown around as a way to shame people into silence and out of action.

MLK wasn’t popular during his time, either. In fact, many of the criticisms being made about protests now were also made about MLK (see image below).

MLK proves that a social justice movement doesn’t have to be popular in order to be successful.
