Black History Month 2026: Critical Race Theory
Day 7
Critical Race Theory (CRT) was created by a group of Black law students and professors who (rightfully) believed the the laws of the country were written and applied (intentionally or unintentionally) to favor certain races over others. The theory came about at a time where the general consensus about the laws of the US were that they were objective and applied to everyone equally. Critical Race Theory seeks to address and debunk this idea. Since its start, Critical Race theory has extended to applying this idea of racial favoritism to other aspect of society.
It is NOT about “making kids feel guilty for being wh1te.” CRT isn’t about making anyone feel guilty for being wh1te and isn’t taught to children. In fact, it’s rarely even taught outside of colleges, law schools, and other adult educational facilities.
What most conservatives label as “CRT” is just educational material that doesn’t downplay the racism Black people faced/currently face in America.
If you want a good introduction to Critical Race Theory, I recommend “Critical Race Theory: An Introduction” by Richard Delgado and Jean Stefancic
